    Hello All!

My Name is Phillip Snell, and I am entering my 16th year teaching at San Benancio Middle School. I now have almost 20 years teaching experience, my how time has flown! While at San Benancio, I have taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade Physical Education. I have also taught a Classic Music, Class Movies and other various athletic activities during our Activity period. I have spent time being our school's Athletic Director, while also coaching both soccer and track at SBMS for multiple years. I have also been in charge of the 'The 8th Grade Movie Club" for most of the last decade. In those years we have spoofed Harry Potter, Napoleon Dynamite,  and Zombie/Alien/Troll adventures, while creating memorable movies for each class.  I am looking forward to being part future endeavors of that sort here at San Benancio.

I am a lifelong Monterey County resident, having grown up in Gonzalez, and then moving in Salinas when I was 6. I am a 1996 graduate of Palma High School, and a 2002 graduate of Chico State, earning a BA in Liberal Studies with music being my area of concentration. I also did some undergrad work at Hartnell College, and Concord College (West Virginia). I received my K-8 Multi-Subject teaching credential from Cal State Monterey Bay in 2004, and my Supplemental Physical Education Credential in 2010.

When I am not at school, I spend my free time with my wife (Diana) and daughters (Natalie 11, Madelynne 8, and Leia 5). I have very many hobbies outside of school, probably too many to name. I enjoy classic 60's and 70's music, my favorites include The Beatles, Sarah Brightman, and Electric Light Orchestra. I love watching classic movies and television shows.  I've also been a big movie memorabilia collector for many years as well. I played various sports up through my third year of college, and have always considered myself an athlete. Sports have always been very important to me, whether it's playing, watching or coaching, I enjoy it all. When I can find time I still play adult baseball/softball and am an avid sports fan. I am a very big fan of the Oakland A's, Raiders and Golden State Warriors.

I am very excited for the new school year here at San Benancio! I have been fortunate to have a job that I thoroughly enjoy doing. I am eager to see what the new school year will bring!

    -Phillip Snell
