Fourth grade students at Washington Union School have a challenging curriculum, highly qualified teachers, and a variety of ways to show academic competence.
Students take timed math facts tests to qualify for the Math Fact Hall of Fame. They present biographical book reports of famous people by becoming the person about whom they have read and presenting an oral report, dressed as that person, during the Timeline Parade. They learn about ecosystems and the environment and visit the Elkhorn Slough. Students study missions, report on them, and have a mission building day. The culmination of their study of the California Gold Rush is an overnight trip to the gold country in May.
