Curriculum

The Washington Union School District (WUSD) provides a comprehensive and well-rounded curriculum designed to meet diverse student needs and prepare them for future academic success. The curriculum is aligned with Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), ensuring a robust foundation in core academic subjects including mathematics, science, language arts, and social studies.

WUSD emphasizes the integration of technology across all grade levels, supporting digital literacy and preparing students for a tech-driven world. Programs such as the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiative at San Benancio Middle School highlight this commitment.

The district also offers specialized programs to enhance the educational experience. These include the Art Docent Program, which provides hands-on art lessons and art appreciation, and a dynamic music program that fosters creativity and cultural awareness. Additionally, there are resources for parents and students to support learning in mathematics through the Eureka Math program for TK-5 and Desmos for grades 6-8.

WUSD's commitment to holistic education is evident in its emphasis on mental health and well-being. School counselors provide support through mindfulness practices and mental health awareness initiatives.
