Introducing WUSD STAR Foundation, in support of Washington Union School District

We’re excited to announce that the Washington Union Educational Foundation (WUEF) and the Washington Union Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) have officially merged and formed a single, meaningful non-profit:
Washington Union Student & Teacher Academic Resource Foundation or simply, WUSD STAR.

Why the merger?

WUEF was founded over 40 years ago to fund academic programs and enhancements not covered by public education dollars. PTO focused on creating joy—bringing fun events and appreciation to our students, teachers and staff.

Over time, family schedules and volunteer resources have changed dramatically. With needs growing and volunteers stretched thin, we made the decision to unite. By combining our missions, efforts, and resources, WUSD STAR now supports everything WUSD—Students, Teachers and Academics.

What We Provide:

  • Art Docent Program – Fully funded by private donations though WUSD STAR
  • Technology & Internet Safety– Tools and upgrades to keep learning safe and up-to-date throughout the district
  • Student Sports & Clubs – Support for extracurriculars that build connection and character
  • Teacher & Staff Appreciation – Celebrating our educators throughout the year
  • School Supplies & Classroom Needs – Supporting teachers and easing family burdens
  • Student & Teacher Grants – Fueling innovation in learning and teaching
  • Assemblies & Community Events– Sparking imagination and fostering connections

We Need You

Our board is currently made up of 13 passionate members—7 of whom are inter-district transfer parents. With the future of inter-district attendance uncertain, we need more support than ever.

To be sensitive to all families, we’ve paused our major back-to-school fundraisers. But we’re still committed to bringing joy and support to our students and teachers this year. If the programs and events we make possible are important to your child, now is the time to step up!

Please consider joining the WUSD STAR Board, volunteering your time or contributing generously. Your involvement continues the incredible legacy of supporting and improving the Washington Union School District.
