Enrollment
All children who reside in the Washington Union School District boundaries and are of school age are eligible to register beginning March 1st of each year. For kindergarten registration, a child must be five (5) years of age on or before September 1st of the upcoming school year. For transitional kindergarten, a child must be five (5) years of age between September 2nd and June 2nd of the upcoming school year (EdCode 48000).
District Enrollment Procedures (New Students only):
- Pick up a registration packet at your child's appropriate school:
Toro Park Elementary TK-3 grades
Washington Union 4-5 grades
San Benancio Middle 6-8 grades - Complete the registration packet and return with the following documentation:
Parent/Guardian identification
Two (2) proofs of residence
Student's Proof of Birth
Immunization record
Documents that can be used to establish residency include:
1. Property tax payment receipts
2. Utility service (e.g. PG&E) contract, statement, or payment receipt
3. Pay stub
4. Voter registration
5. Correspondence from a government agency
6. Rental property contract, lease, or payment receipt
7. Declaration of residency executed by the student's parent/guardian (Affidavit provided by district,).
8. If the student is an unaccompanied youth as defined in 42 USC 1134a, a declaration of residency executed by the student.
9. If the student is residing in the same home as a caregiving adult within the District boundaries, an affidavit executed by a caregiving adult in accordance with Family Code 6552.
